Most fantasy games wipe the slate every season. You draft, you play, the season ends, and everything you built disappears. GameDay Squad doesn't work like that. It's dynasty fantasy: your players are cards, the cards are yours, and they carry over season after season.
That one difference changes how the whole game feels. The squad you build this year is the starting point for next year, so early decisions keep paying off (or haunting you) for a long time.
How a round works, in one paragraph
You own player cards. Each week you pick a team from them, enter competitions, and your players score points from what they do in real games. Better real-world performance, more points. Prizes go to the top of each competition. Then you do it again next round, with the same cards plus whatever you've added.
The card bit, briefly
Every player comes in six rarities, Bronze up to Legend. Rarity is a score multiplier: a Bronze card scores the player's actual points, a Legend card scores them at 1.5x. Rarer cards are harder to get and cost more of your salary cap to field.
Cards move between coaches on a player-run transfer market. People buy, sell, auction and trade. It's a big part of why the game holds attention between rounds.
Do you have to spend money?
No, and this comes straight from their own FAQ. Registering for any sport gives you free Bronze cards, and the Starter competition is Bronze-only, so everyone in it is on a level field. Spending gets you into higher competitions faster. It doesn't buy you wins inside the one you're in.
Who it suits
If you already play AFL Fantasy, SuperCoach or FPL, the weekly rhythm will feel familiar and the keeper economy is the new part. If you've never played fantasy at all, this is a reasonable place to start, because the Starter tier was built for exactly that.
